Saturday 12th May

Heytesbury & Sutton Veny CC finally got the season underway this weekend for which much credit must go to Frosty and his team for getting two great pitches prepared in a dismal week, which also saw the 2nd xi swapping their fixture mid week as the opposition’s ground was under water.  HSVCC proceeded to produce two wins out of two, for an excelent if delayed start to the 2012 season. More match details can be found by visiting the reports page of the respective teams.

Sutton Veny 10K Report 6th May

The second Heytesbury and Sutton Veny 10k started really well. The forecast for the day was for a chance of showers- just what the already muddy course didn’t need. However, by the start of the Race the sun was just beginning to poke through the clouds and by half way round the sun was shining down on the runners as they took in the views from the top of the Wessex Way.

The organisers and their many helpers received a lot of positive feedback on the friendly nature of the event and the smooth organisation.

The start and finish was at the village hall before heading out through the village and up onto The Wessex Way. The course, a mixture of track and road through the village and track through the woods and up THAT hill and then across the top of the village, with views out across Salisbury Plain, was challenging, but all the runners enjoyed the event.

Refreshments of teas and coffees with some lovely homemade cakes awaited the runners on their return, along with goody bags. The presentations followed in the hall, and thanks to the Run’s Sponsor The Woolpack Inn, Sutton Veny for their generous support.

The event, organised by Heytesbury & Sutton Veny Cricket Club, was a resounding success and the money raised on the day (in excess of £600) will all go towards the re-building of the Sutton Veny pavilion on the Alexander Memorial Field.

Thanks to all competitors for getting round a challenging course and the event’s organising team. We look forward to next year’s run in April 2013.
